The Pfeiss over the course of time
First of all: Where does the name "Pfeiss" come from?
This part of the village used to be a marshy area and was only drained in the sixties by grandfather Mair Josef and his neighbour. This is how the Pfeiser-Anger came into being and was designated as flood-proof grassland for the municipality of Mitterlana.
Maria and Josef Mair (Daniel's grandparents) open their small 2-star guesthouse "Pfeiss" and run it with great dedication.
Daughter Erika and husband Paul Überbacher take over the house and earn a third star.
As the years went by, the children Daniel and Stefanie also helped out in the business in keeping with the family tradition.
Some structural changes were made and the guesthouse was transformed into a 3-star hotel.
In 2016,
a major renovation followed, in which the original house was completely
demolished except for the north walls and rebuilt. In order to be able to offer
guests even more relaxation, enjoyment and culinary highlights, the indoor
swimming pool, the complete wellness facilities and the wine & tasting
cellar were also included in the plans.
The popular "8-pool" outdoor pool will be replaced with a new 21-metre infinity saltwater pool and the garden area has been completely redesigned.
2020 has
been upgraded. A 4th panoramic floor with luxurious suites and junior suites
was added.
In the
meantime, the whole family and their partners are active in the business:
Senior chefs Erika and Paul, Chef Daniel with wife Mara and Daniel's sister Steffi with husband Harry
